Renaud Garcia-Fons ~ La Linea del Sur ~ CD

Renaud Garcia-Fons and his 5-string double bass are equally comfortable playing Flamenco (no one can "play the cante" with the timbral and emotional realism that he brings to it), Jazz, Latin and Mediterranean musics. On this recording he is accompanied by David Venitucci (accordion), Kiko Ruiz (Flamenco guitar), Pascal Rollando (percussion), and Esperanza Fernandez (vocals). The music is very Flamenco, with echoes of Argentine Tango and other musical flavors, but as in all of Garcia-Fons' work, these elements are subsumed into one stylistically consistent personal expression. Recommended.
