Antonio & David Hurtado Torres ~ Pentagrama Flamenco ~ CD

The Hurtado brothers made quite a name for themselves with a book in which they transcribed several mostly hard-core cantes in the most proper music notation, for singer and piano. This CD is a follow-up to that project, in which they perform those and several other cantes with an ensemble consisting of piano, viola de gamba, oboe, and percussion (palmas, cajon, darbuka...). It’s not quite the same as hearing Manuel Torre sing, but this is a really interesting instrumental experiment.
