A classy production from this chameleon-like artist. Accompanied by the illustrious flamenco-jazz pianist Chano Dominguez and his Trio, Martirio sings a selection of Spanish classics which she has dubbed “Songs for the Wee Hours.” Martirio’s singing has a smoky, flamenco quality to it, while the musical accompaniment is jazzy but very Spanish at the same time. The sound is intimate and elegant. The packaging is also exceptional, consisting of a hard cover booklet with over 100 pages of artwork, photos, letters, and text by Martirio.
