Carlos Garcia Tolsa ~ The Collected Works for Guitar ~ Music Book
Born in Albacete, Spain in 1858, Garcia Tolsa became the favorite pupil of Julian Arcas, who at the time of his death told the young guitarist “I leave the guitar in your hands.” He toured far and wide as a musician, eventually settling in South America. He was widely regarded as a brilliant composer, improviser, and performer for the guitar, and some works attributed to Tarrega may have been his. Most of the pieces are in characteristic dance forms: habaneras, waltzes, polkas, mazurkas, gavotas.... This is a solid, scholarly collection, with biographical and performance notes, and dressed up with the artwork from the original publications. Notation. 95 pages.
