Boris Kovac & Ladaaba Orchest ~ The Last Balkan Tango ~ CD

Though not Gypsies, these Yugoslav musicians have created a surrealistic ambience for their “Apocalyptic dance party,” and their music has all the flavor and expressiveness of the best of Gipsy music anywhere. This is dark, brooding music (Gipsy Ballroom!) with moments of bright gaiety and others of just frantically grasping for it. Kind of a weird record but very special.
