Founded by Babik Reinhardt (Django's son) and Romane in homage to the original Django/Grapelli/Quintet configuration, this ensemble performs the original Quintet repertoire with mind-blowing virtuosity, but also personalizes much of it through their inspired creativity, giving the music a more modern, evolved sound.Their instrumentation an exact match of the original Quintette, and the communication between co-founders Babik Reinhardt (violin) and Romane (guitar) very much reminiscent of the legendary Reinhardt/Grappelli partnership, the New Quintette treats the style and repertoire of the original Quintette with the utmost respect, but perform it with tremendous energy and excitement, and contributes its share to the genre's organic evolution.
