Bireli Lagrene ~ Routes to Django ~ CD

Re-issue of Lagrene's solo recording debut, made in 1980 at the age of 14. Lagrene started playing at the age of four, and by his early teens was touring all over Europe, where he is widely regarded as one of if not the top practitioners of Gipsy Jazz. He has made 20 recordings since this first album, and many of them have explored more modern and fusiony directions in jazz, often with electric guitar. These early recordings, accompanied by traditional "Hot Club" ensembles of seasoned Gipsy Jazz players, remain the most Django-esque, while already showcasing Lagrene's unique technical and lyrical gifts.
