Lalezar Ensemble ~ Music of the Sultans Sufis & Seraglio vol.1: Sultan Composers ~ CD

This Istanbul-based ensemble is spearheading a revival of music of the Ottoman Empire, and these recordings will surely remain landmarks in this revival. Material ranges from art songs to extended suites, dating from the 17th through early 20th Centuries, and performed by traditional Turkish small-ensemble instrumentalists and vocalists. Each CD comes with a 40 page booklet full of commentary and pictures.
