Haran ~ Pharaoh's Daughter ~ CD

This record is on the fringes of our catalog, but is very good and had to be listed. Haran and her ensemble are based in New York. Haran's solo vocals are reminiscent of Ofra Haza's, her layered vocals of Ekova's. She is supported by an excellent ensemble and numerous guest instrumentalists, all of whom perform a fusiony interpretation of Sephardic and Jewish themes with comfortable elegance, deftly manouvering a variety of odd time signatures. Overall, an unusually satisfying record, in its own little category.
