Moroccan oud virtuoso beautifully accompanied by Lahoucine Baquir on percussion. El Maloumi is unusual in that he borrows much musical material and inspiration from the Berber tradition, and that he freely juxtaposes different modes within the same piece. The playing itself is highly virtuostic while at the same time extremely sensitive, and has earned him the nickname "enchanter of the oud."
