Copy of About
Since first opening its doors in 1987 on Connecticut Avenue in the
Cleveland Park neighborhood of NW Washington DC, The Guitar Gallery
has specialized in importing the best possible Classical and Flamenco
guitars directly from builders in Spain. That selection is complemented by
other quality instruments from USA, Canada, Brazil, Bulgaria, Japan and
China.
Our purpose remains to offer the most thoughtfully curated selection
possible, with a focus on exceptional value at any price. From student
models starting in the low hundreds to professional instruments worth
thousands of dollars, we feel every guitar we carry represents a unique
value based on quality, features, and price.
With the same philosophy in mind, we typically have a limited but enticing
selection of Steel-String Acoustic and Electric Guitars, and a few exotic
World Music Instruments on hand. We also maintain a comprehensive selection of the best guitar accessories available anywhere to complement your guitar purchase. Strings, Tuners, Capos, Cases, Humidifiers, Polishes, Cleaning Products.... Whatever accessories might enhance the enjoyment of your new instrument, we probably have on hand.
Finally, there’s our acclaimed Repairs & Maintenance program. From re-
stringing and set-ups to major repairs and tune-ups, there are few jobs beyond the skill and experience of our technicians and luthiers. The original Flamenco catalog boutique, Flamenco Connection was created in 1992 with the aim of documenting, organizing, and making available to aficionados around the world the Flamenco recordings that were available at that time. Putting Flamenco Connection together was literally a door-to-door affair across cities and towns in Spain, calling on every record label we could identify and asking them to sell us whatever Flamenco titles were in their catalogs. It was challenging detective work, but in the end proved well worth the effort.
For years we made almost every new release in the genre available to our
customers. Online in the 1990's - the early days of the internet as incredible
as that sounds today, we mailed bi-monthly catalogs and updates to
thousands of clients worldwide. And as our network expanded, companies
started producing materials for us. Not only CDs but performance and
instructional DVDs, music books and more. After acquiring The Guitar Gallery in 2007, the focus shifted to importing guitars from Spain, and running a brick & mortar store with our media catalog becoming one more part of the overall operation. Eventually, as new technologies of distribution emerged, we stopped updating our catalog.
But, we still maintain an inventory featuring thousands of titles pertaining to
Flamenco music and dance, and a few related genres. Audio CDs, performance and instructional DVDs, Books in Spanish and English, Printed Music, Method Books, Supplies for Dancers and Guitarists. And we continue to ship these titles to aficionados around America and the rest of the world.
Please have a browse, we're confident you'll find titles of interest. And
remember that in an age of commoditized, auto-curated music streaming, there's still something special about opening a physical product, curated by the artist and enhanced by photos, lyrics, bios, performance notes....
