Bruce Becker & Richard Brune ~ A Night of Cante Flamenco ~ 2 DVDs

These video recordings are the fruit of a decades long friendship and collaboration between singer Bruce Becker and guitarist Richard Bruné - Bruné is also a highly respected luthier and expert on the Spanish guitar.

Driven by their shared love for Flamenco and the Cante, the two have studied and transcribed countless historical recordings in search of Flamenco's core essences. They bring to these performances 40 years of learning and performing, together and with many other important Flamenco performers.

The performances are really good - the cante strong and the accompaniments impeccable. The two artists find a very happy balance between their respect for the tradition they are celebrating, and the "judicious personal stamps" they bring to their performance.

The booklets that come with the DVDs are invaluable in their own right, containing the letras to each cante, extensive information about each palo performed, and lots of historical notes on Flamenco and the Spanish Gypsies.
