Carlos Piñana ~ Mundos Flamencos ~ CD

Another contemporary Flamenco guitar CD that stands out from the pack. Pinana's guitar and musical voice are clear and solid, his compositions engaging and effective, and the accompaniments varied and tasteful, being used to punctuate specific musical ideas rather than couching and/or dressing the entire musical content as so often happens. The accompanists include the Orquesta Sinfonica de Murcia, dancer extraordinaire Javier Latorre, brother and cantaor Curro Pinana, acoustic and electric guitar, lots of percussion.... Seguiriyas, Rumba, Solea, Alegrias, Farruca, Tanguillos, a couple of original compositions, and a Flamenco suite consisting of an Adagio, Fantasia, Bolero, and Taranta.
