Leo Brouwer ~ Tarantos ~ Printed Music
Modern composers sometimes give the performer a set of musical motifs and ask them to string them together to suit their taste. That’s how this Taranta is written, which interestingly brings it very close to the approach used by Flamenco guitarists. Cool modern Spanish/Flamenco crossover.Brouwer's guitar works have a surrealistic, contemporary flavor about them (sometimes resulting in unusual notation) grounded by an almost folksy (Afro-Cuban) sense of rhythm, and local (mostly Cuban) color. He now lives in Spain where he collaborates with Vicente Amigo and others.
