Mohamed Abdel Wahab ~ Al Gondol ~ CD
Two extended works, Al Gondol and El Nahr El Khaled, by the great 20th Century composer of Arab music for the orchestra. The orchestra is quite different from a traditional European orchestra as it includes extensive percussion, instruments like the qanun, ney, and oud in addition to the strings. The overall sound is more like that of a large Middle Eastern ensemble. than what one might think of as an "orchestra."
