Pepe Habichuela ~ Yerbagüena vol.1 ~ Music Book

$ 59.00

Transcriptions from an album that didn't quite define Pepe Habichuela's career, but did summarize a lot of his creative output over the several decades he has been active. The guitar playing is only partly new, with plenty of material being drawn and embellished from A Mandeli or Habichuela en Rama. But live, over the years, Habichuela has often performed with Indian musicians, and on this recording he wanted to make the possible historical, genetic, and cultural links between the Gitanos of Spain and the people of India as musically palpable as possible.These two volumes contain the whole of Yerbaguena, transcribed by Enrique Vargas, and approved by Habichuela himself. Each transcription contains the lead guitar part, which works independently as a solo, and most also have an additional second or third part, some of which capture the guitar overdubs, others the additional voices on the CD (string orchestra, laud, mandola, cante...).This first volume presents Yerbaguena-Oriente (Rumba), Bangalore Krishna (Bulerias), A Mi Chache Miguel (Solea), and Se la Llevo Dios (Malaguena de Cadiz).In addition to the transcriptions, Vargas provides invaluable commentary on each piece, its form, an analysis of the parts, techniques used, fingerings, etc., which makes the book a sort of method in modern Flamenco as well. In notation and TAB. 196 pages.
